My Story
"Born in Jaipur in 1961, I grew up in a family where art was a way of life. Guided by my father and mentored by the legendary Padma Shri Kripal Singh Shekhawat, I embraced the timeless beauty of Indian miniature painting as my life’s purpose. In my early years, I took on humble jobs, driven by an unwavering passion for art. With time, I mastered various schools of painting like Kota, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Alwar, Bundi, and Mughal art. My journey took flight in 1984 with my first international exhibition in Paris. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of showcasing my work across 20+ countries. With over 280 exhibitions and workshops, I continue to share this legacy worldwide. Teaching over 31,000 students has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my journey. For 29 years, I’ve led free annual camps at City Palace to nurture young artists. Alongside this, I’ve also worked with the Ministry of Culture to revive fading wall paintings across historical sites, ensuring our heritage speaks to future generations." --- Babu Lal Marotia
